Mara Boardman

Major: Aerospace Engineering
Current Year:  Senior
Position: Chief Engineer of GLADOS

When I was a child living on the east side of Orlando, FL, there would be days as a part of my day to day life where there would be a loud boom, the house would shake, and I would run outside and watch the shuttle go up. I never dreamed that one day I would be making satellites that go to space, but seeing those launches did spark in me an excitement and wonder regarding space exploration, and here I am today. Satellite development is my passion; every day is a new issue and a new challenge, and I enjoy the opportunity to rise to those challenges and find a way around them. I have been on the GLADOS team for 4 years in various roles, from Machining Manager to Integration and Testing Lead to Chief Engineer, and I have loved the unique challenges of each position. My dream for the future is to advise students on how to make satellites while integrating and testing satellites or being a systems engineer for a small company. “We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” — JFK
