On Saturday, February 27, UBNL’s testing team carried out two structure-related tests on GLADOS’s radio antennas and mechanical inhibits switches. The antennas test consisted of simulating a satellite deployment from a Canasterized Satellite Dispenser (or CSD) 500 times. This is done in order to verify that the satellite antennas will be capable of automatic deployment in space. The inhibits switch test consisted of measuring the force exerted by the mechanical switches onto the CSD. This is to assure that GLADOS will not damage its own CSD on the ride up to space.
