LinkSat

Major: Mechanical Engineering
Current year: Senior
Position: Chief Engineer

When I first heard that there was a group of undergraduate students building satellites at UB I thought “Man that would be really cool to be a part of but that’s way over my head”. However, less than a year later I ended up at an info session for UBNL and learned it was something much more feasible than what my first impression had suggested. I started in structures designing and machining components for each mission, but as my curiosity grew for the satellites so did my involvement. Therefore, I decided to apply for Chief Engineer in order to learn more about the satellite as a whole and all its intricacies. I was selected for the job and since becoming CE I have gained a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge that goes along with constructing a satellite. The path wasn’t without its ups and downs but I can definitely say that this is one of the most rewarding positions I’ve ever held. Although I will have graduated by the time LinkSat reaches the cosmos I’m excited to see all our hard work finally manifest into mission success.
